Such a sweet book!

Parker got to taste-test another book on feelings。 I’m concerned he’s literally learning to eat his feelings 😂。 I was able to extricate the upper spine corner before serious damage could be done。 This children’s book is well done, has beautiful illustrations, and a cut out heart that runs through the book center and shows the color which symbolizes each emotion。 It’s fairly complex in concept, so nicer for older children, especially ones who don’t gnaw on their literature。 In other words, Parker Parker got to taste-test another book on feelings。 I’m concerned he’s literally learning to eat his feelings 😂。 I was able to extricate the upper spine corner before serious damage could be done。 This children’s book is well done, has beautiful illustrations, and a cut out heart that runs through the book center and shows the color which symbolizes each emotion。 It’s fairly complex in concept, so nicer for older children, especially ones who don’t gnaw on their literature。 In other words, Parker needs to gum through a few more books before he’s ready for this one。 But he’ll get there! 。。。more

Some nice emotional vocabulary in this book and the progressively smaller cut-out hearts are a nice touch。

This was such a cute book! I loved the little cut-out heart and how it was incorporated into every page of the story。 The little one I read this to loved all of the colors and pictures!

I love this book because it tells me the feelings that are in my heart。The girl looks like me。 The page I love is the one about when the heart is broken。 Macie。 💙💚💛🧡❤️

In My Heart: A Book of Feelings by Jo Witek is all about feelings and makes comparisons to things for younger readers。 For example, "Sometimes my heart feels like a big yellow star, shiny and bright。 I smile from ear to ear and twirl around so fast。。。This when is my heart is happy。" I like the cutouts in the pages to portray the different feelings。 There is a great use of color as well, cooler colors for happiness and hope and darker colors to show anger and hurt。 This would be a good book to us In My Heart: A Book of Feelings by Jo Witek is all about feelings and makes comparisons to things for younger readers。 For example, "Sometimes my heart feels like a big yellow star, shiny and bright。 I smile from ear to ear and twirl around so fast。。。This when is my heart is happy。" I like the cutouts in the pages to portray the different feelings。 There is a great use of color as well, cooler colors for happiness and hope and darker colors to show anger and hurt。 This would be a good book to use in an elementary classroom or any classroom。 It shows that there are a lot of different feelings to be felt and there is nothing wrong with showing them。 This book could be used to talk about different feelings to the class。 It would also be nice to use if a student is having a difficult time and cannot quite express how they are feeling, they could flip through the book to show how they are feeling。 。。。more

This is one of my favorite books for younger children such as Pre-school or Kindergarten。 I love the way this book shows children that it is ok to have big emotions and how to express them。 The book illustrations demonstrate multiple emotions in which children may feel and ways in which they may feel them。 I think this book would be a great tool for parents to use to show children how to regulate their emotions。 The illustrations are also very whimsical and cute for children to follow along with This is one of my favorite books for younger children such as Pre-school or Kindergarten。 I love the way this book shows children that it is ok to have big emotions and how to express them。 The book illustrations demonstrate multiple emotions in which children may feel and ways in which they may feel them。 I think this book would be a great tool for parents to use to show children how to regulate their emotions。 The illustrations are also very whimsical and cute for children to follow along with。 。。。more

Such a cute story! The coloured hearts throughout the book and light hearted illustrations allows children to look at emotions in a nice way。 They can see that everyone feels all of these emotions at some time or another。 I really enjoyed reading this and think it’s a great book to incorporate into the classroom to normalise feeling these different emotions。

Explaining emotions to toddlers can be hard, but this book helps! Why I started this book: Family week, I had everyone bring their favorite picture books。 I recognized most, but this title was new。Why I finished it: Colorful and useful。。。 would be a great gift。

Scholastic recommended this to read along with this month’s feelings issue of Let’s Find Out, and I really like it - specifically as a replacement for The Color Monster (sorry, The Color Monster)。I like the array of feelings the book describes and how it describes them。 The cutouts in the book are cool and I think the kids will like them。I’d definitely reread this in the future。

I love this book very much。 I am a preschool teacher and I use this book to teach my preschoolers to learn about their feelings。 This book talks about all kinds of feelings and the pictures are very bright and eye catching that all children and adults can benefit from。 especially during this pandemic time。Mary Osei

An excellent book for exploring emotions and how they make us feel。 The art is lovely and the prose is engaging and relatable。 It's a really good bridge into developing language for better emotional intelligence。 An excellent book for exploring emotions and how they make us feel。 The art is lovely and the prose is engaging and relatable。 It's a really good bridge into developing language for better emotional intelligence。 。。。more

I can see the book as an intro to a discussion of feelings for young children。 The heart cutouts can be a counting game too。

It’s a cute way to describe what one might feel like with different emotions。 Preschoolers will love the colours and pictures。 I hope to use this book with the students I work with。

A good read that will be useful in my practice。 Far more subtle and wide-ranging than some of the others I have read, this book is designed to help children identify and name their feelings and understand how feelings make things happen。 Nicely illustrated for the most part。 I cannot help wondering what small boys will make of the "shy" page, though: while the little girl feeling shy is obviously, in adult eyes, wearing porcupine quills to keep others away, many children will see the long tail a A good read that will be useful in my practice。 Far more subtle and wide-ranging than some of the others I have read, this book is designed to help children identify and name their feelings and understand how feelings make things happen。 Nicely illustrated for the most part。 I cannot help wondering what small boys will make of the "shy" page, though: while the little girl feeling shy is obviously, in adult eyes, wearing porcupine quills to keep others away, many children will see the long tail as an episode of explosive diarrhea。 We all know that kind of kid。 。。。more

"My heart is like a house, with all these feelings living inside。" The physical structure of the book, the gimmick of the heart-shaped cutout in each page, which ultimately create a nested picture of the heart as containing multiple feelings, relates to the meaning。 "My heart is like a house, with all these feelings living inside。" The physical structure of the book, the gimmick of the heart-shaped cutout in each page, which ultimately create a nested picture of the heart as containing multiple feelings, relates to the meaning。 。。。more
